Liraglutide questions to take along

Understand the medicine

Diabetes care and weight care use different products.

The same ingredient name does not settle which product fits the reason for care. Ask that question out loud.

What to check

  • Ask which use is being discussed.

As of September 26, 2026, liraglutide (Victoza) is approved for type 2 diabetes, not for weight loss.

Type 2 diabetes is a condition that affects blood sugar.

  • Ask what the weight product’s label covers.

As of September 26, 2026, liraglutide (Saxenda) is approved for long-term weight care in adults with obesity, or overweight with a weight-related health condition.

Its official medicine information places the medicine alongside changes to eating and physical activity.

  • Ask why this exact product was chosen.

Which condition is it meant to treat in my case? Is this product approved for that use?

A note before moving on

Do not let the names blur together

An approved medicine that copies a brand-name product is called a generic.

At the pharmacy, the diabetes product and its approved copies cannot be swapped for the weight product and its approved copies.

A clear answer names the product and the purpose. A repeated ingredient name is not enough.
